Premises and Funding

4 Aug

After almost 10 years in the making, we are thrilled by the news that there is funding to repurpose Wanaka’s former Mitre 10 site as a shared youth and community centre. If all goes to plan, we could have a new gym there by next year! Many thanks to QLDC, Sport Otago, all of our members and the wider community who have supported us with this, it would not have happened without you!
With the move to the new premises on the horizon, we have some exciting plans developing, so we are looking for a couple more people to join our sociable committee. We need somebody to oversee fundraising and someone who can help project manage the move. If this sounds like you, please email us admin@aspiringgymsports.co.nz for more info.
Yet more good news! To help us cover our rental costs, we are very excited to announce that we have also been successful in our application for a $30,000 community grant from QLDC.
Our landlord recently installed a sound proofing wall and the gym looks great! It's been all cleaned, our new mats and spotting blocks have been installed and we are all ready for the winter term! Big thanks to Allan and James from the Wanaka Rec Centre, Wayne and Rae, Jess, Gill Robinson, John Wyatt and family and Hayley for their Muscle power to clear all equipment from the wall in preparation for sound- proofing and to Rae and Jess for the reset with the new equipment.
